I know that cloth diapers are very sensitive to what using detergents, essential oils etc. are harmful, too?

You should be fine as long as you stay away from very heavy oils or colors like cinnamon or German chamomile. None of them probably want to include in a recipe rag anyway. Cinnamon is so caustic and German chamomile is the way to darkness. For washing, you might consider adding some lemon oil. It helps break the bonds of oil which can reduce staining. Hope this helps.
